Fraud, Waste & Abuse

The Leon County Clerk of Court and Comptroller is striving to make local government more effective, open and accessible to all citizens. Therefore, the Clerk is very interested in receiving any citizen and employee concerns regarding fraud, waste, inefficiencies and abuses within Leon County government operations.

Submitting a Concern

You do not need to provide your name to submit your concerns.

However, be advised that if you confidentially report fraud or abuse but provide any information that might identify you, such as your name, e-mail address, or phone number, the Clerk’s Office will protect your identity as far as the Florida Public Records Act allows.

The Clerk’s Office cannot guarantee complete confidentiality because:

  1. Identification may be necessary to allow law enforcement officials to investigate or respond effectively to the report
  2. Identification may be required by law
  3. The person accused of Fraud Policy violations may be entitled to the information as a matter of legal right in disciplinary proceedings

4 Ways to Report

If you have an issue you wish to bring to our attention, you can contact the Clerk’s Office in four ways:

By Phone

By Fax

To submit a concern by fax, send the fax to (850) 606-4037.

If you are writing, faxing, or emailing your concerns, please follow these instructions carefully:

Describe Your Concern

Provide the names of all individuals involved, including any other witnesses. Give the dates and times the incident(s) occurred and where they happened. State whether there is any supporting documentation, such as birth dates, license plate numbers, social security numbers, addresses, invoice numbers, check numbers, or other document numbers.

Keep Records

For email, please keep a record of the date and time you send your communication. These two items will serve as your identification codes if you choose to follow up on any concerns reported to the Hotline.

Follow Up

Please call our Hotline number (850) 606-4199 two weeks after reporting your concern(s). Often, after we start our investigation, questions arise, or further clarification is needed to continue the investigation. Therefore, it is extremely important for you to contact the Hotline after the initial contact.
